Lily had her 6th year well-child visit to the doctor yesterday. All was fine and dandy. (90/50 bp, 47.6 lbs, about 4 ft or so tall--yes, that is a whole foot shorter than I am, so she's almost as big as me.) All was fine until we had to do the eye exam. Her left eye was having some serious issues focusing. Her left eye was about 20/40, while her right eye was at 20/25. I wouldn't even be slightly alarmed if it weren't for the fact that last year both eyes were at 20/20 and also that astigmatism is hereditary. (I have it and so does my father--I have his eyes, and so does she.) We had this problem before, during one of her eye tests, where the light was a bight askew bouncing off of her retina, so they had to do the test twice every year. It seems to have worsen over time, which is the problem I had (and ended up getting glasses for.) I have set an appointment with the optometrist on Wednesday. Hopefully they can either confirm or deny my fears.
Shortly following her eye exam the doctor checked the rest of her. Her reflexes, and the rest of her body are ok. Her pigeon-toes are caused by tightness of the internal rotator muscles of the legs, located at the hips. We have to continue our stretches and increase the intensity a bit at a time, doing it about ten times a day. Lily hates it, but we've done it for the past two years. It's prevented her legs from getting any worse, so I know we were doing something right. The doctor said to just keep doing what we were doing and that, as soon as the external muscles were tightened and in the internal were loosened, she would have no problems with her legs at all.
As for her ears...she failed the hearing test miserably. There were 5 sounds that she needed to hear. She heard the first, and loudest one, but all others were lost to her. Her ears are fine in the sense that waves are passing through the canal normally, but she's not hearing the softer, and most times lower, tones of the exam. She didn't have a problem with this last year either, but if she truly does have a hearing problem, it would explain why she feels the need to yell upon starting a conversation. Her appointment with the audiologist is on Friday.
Other than that, no other problems. She's healthy, smart, and a large pain in my ass, which is what every 6 year old should be. I'll keep you posted when she has her next appointments and what those doctors tell me.

Almost Done...
First off, apologies for all the spam that was sent/posted on this. Someone had hacked into my account and I hadn't even noticed it. I deleted the spam posts as well as changed my information. Hopefully, this does not happen again.
Lily is growing fast. She turned 6 years old yesterday. I can't believe how much time has flown. She is so smart, it amazes me. Don't get me wrong, she's a brat, a lot, and a bit bossy, but she's generally a good kid and I do love her bunches. Currently, she is doing 2nd grade work at home. We chose to continue to homeschool due to the fact that our children are quite advanced, and we like it that way. We worked hard for that, and are very proud of them. Lily is on top of it, and it amazes me how much she knows and remembers. I'm hoping to have her tested during the summer. We found a place that does free placement tests in Round Rock, so Justin and I are pretty excited. Her favorite things right now are: Pink, coloring, drawing, writing stories, Princesses, and organizing.
Iris, who turned 4 in October, is also growing well. She's just as advanced (currently doing Kindergarten at home) but is my much quiter child. She likes to keep to herself and speaks in two volumes: quiet, and quieter. When you ask her to speak up, apparently there is no inbetween and she will just start yelling. She is a very silly child, but is easily upset bby her older sister, so things are never boring at home. Her favorite things right now are: Purple, books, telling people off, and generally being silly.
Rose, who has been 2 since the end of July, is full of crazy. While we have her trying Pre-K work, she is very much disinterested. She knows all of her shapes, is speaking in sentences, relatively, and knows left from right. She can even identify a few capital letters. However, she refuses to count any number except the numbers 8 and 10 and doesn't care so much about colors. She's also the meanest of the three. While Lily is the instigator/manipulator, Rose is the brawler. She is usually yelling at *someone* for any reason at all and throwing punches. Even when she is sick. He sisters are cuddly, and maybe a little whiney, when they are sick. Rose, on the other hand, is full of rage. There is screaming and kicking involved when she is sick. She just got over a double ear infection not too long ago, and I'm just happy she has stop raging at everyone. (Don't get me wrong, she is still loud and raging, just not as often.) It seems like she has two emotions: rage, and surpressed rage.
As for the unborn: It's a boy!! I kind of feel sorry for the kid. He has no idea what he is getting himself into. Those girls are going to be all over him, especially Lily, who has been asking for a baby brother since before I had Rose. She wanted to name him Carlos, but we said no. Iris didn't care, just as long as he doesn't touch her stuff. Even though I'm due on February 13, he's coming out a week early. This pregnancy has not been too kind to me. I'm at a high risk for uterine rupture (due to three prior c-sections) and have gestational diabetes. I've been on bed rest since August, and take frequent naps, as instructed by my doctor. I hurt, a lot, and feel exhausted ona regular basis. While I have good days, and try and stay active on those days, it doesn't always go as planned. My legs and feet go numb a lot, my hips feel like they are trying to detach themselves from the rest of my body, and my back is one giant knot. I have to take a sleep aid, a painkiller, anti-nausea, and heartburn medicine just so I can sleep through the night. Not to mention that last week I had bronchitis, so on top of that, I had to take antibiotics three times a day and use my inhaler. I still have a nasty cough, but that's mostly due to allergies and my asthma. Did I mention this pregnancy hasn't been kind to me?
Keep on the lookout around February 7-9 for updates on the new baby! Wishing everyone happy winter holidays and a prosperous new year.

Three's a crowd, but four's a party.
So, last week, while I was busy feeling horrible, throwing up frequently, 1and just all around miserable, I took a pregnancy test to find that I was indeed pregnant. I went to the doctor's office two days ago, on Tuesday, to make sure that I wasn't hallucinating and that I really DID see two positive at-home pregnancy tests.
I'm currently 9 weeks and 3 days along. We've chosen Daisy Lynn for a girl names and Dorian [insert middle name here] for a boy. Justin is happy for a new baby (as he wanted 6), but I'm not sure how I feel about it yet. It's a lot to take in; another unplanned pregnancy, especially now. I had planned to go back to my recruiter this week and take my ASVAB so I could join the Air Force. With being pregnant, that plan has had to be dissolved for something else. Not to mention that, due to the economy and the lack of available jobs for my husband and I, we can no longer afford our house and are moving back home with our parents.
Things are crazy right now. We move in about two weeks and have so much to get rid of and pack, but we are dealing with it the best we can. The fact that we have yet to completely lose our minds is a good show of how thick our hides are.
The girls have grown a lot. Lily is five-and-a-half now, having graduated from Pre-Kinder back in May. She's actually at a 2nd grade level and we have been homeschooling her and her sisters for the past few years. I'm having a bit of trouble with her, emotionally, because she senses that things are changing. We gave away the cats (we had three) and she misses them dearly. She realizes that we will not be returning to this house in a couple of weeks and the thought terrifies her. She's happy where she is, and likes having her own home. No matter how many times I try and explain that she will be living with family, she doesn't seem satisfied with having to "share" someone's home, which I understand. She is highly advanced, academically, but still very much a five-year-old. The things she can come up with are amazing, though. Story time is now her reading every book she can get her hands on to her sisters. She's actually reading chapter books now. :) She is such a brilliant little girl and Justin does a great job teaching her and Iris.
Iris is 3 now, and a lot more aloof than Lily. She is every bit of fancy-free as you can imagine. Potty-training has been a chore. She just refuses to go in the toilet. She changes her *own* diaper, that is how lazy she is with this. She would rather go to a corner and use the bathroom than actually going to the toilet. I don't know what to do with her. Lily had me spoiled--she potty-trained herself, so I am at a complete loss. We are working on her speech right now, as, though she can actually talk, she doesn't enunciate any of her consonants, and inhales while talking. You usually get one or two words out of a five to six-word sentence. She's also learning to write, which she has little interest for. She is very much the child who doesn't want to do it if it doesn't interest her regardless if she can do it or not. She *knows* how to write, she actually knows how to read simple words, too, but does she *want* to? Nope.
Rose will be 2 in two-and-a-half weeks. Can you believe it? She has grown so fast and so much. She is *very* independent. She knows what she wants, how she wants, and when she wants it. There is no bullying that kid. She takes no crap from anyone, *especially* her sisters. Iris got in her face one day and Rose punched her in the eye. Lily was taunting her, and she smacked her in the mouth. She is one crazy baby. She's begun to talk now. It takes a bit of concentration to know what she's saying sometimes, like when she asks for milk, but her vocabulary is expanding. She can start a phrase with "I want" and will add cup, juice and milk. She says thanks, goodbye and adios, hello and hola, understands multiple phrases in both English and Spanish, and absolutely *LOVES* to sing.
The girls are happy and healthy, brilliant and beautiful, belligerent and numerous, and absolutely wonderful. I'm so happy to watch them grow.

Christmas Gifts 2010
The time for buying gifts is approaching, and while I love to get things for my children, I usually avoid it due to the ungodly amount of crap they already have. With that said, for you, my dear and loved family and friends, if you would like to buy a toy for my children, please read this post: http://ames-baby.blogspot.com/2010/02/acceptable-toys-other-gifts-for-girls.html. This is a list I compiled back in February in hopes that we wouldn't have to keep giving away or getting rid of toys.
On another note, this picture is meant to show where we store our children's clothing. We have several of these stoarge containers filled with clothes ranging between Newborn to size 7/8. WE DO NOT NEED ANY MORE CLOTHING. Seriously. I have nowhere to put them; they have enough. With that said, it is best to consult us prior to buying things.We may or may not come down to Texas for the winter season. Currently, we cannot afford the trip. But if we do come down, we will not have room in our tiny sedan to take any gifts with us. Gifts need to be small, but still large enough for the baby to not eat them. Also, both sides of the family live in Texas; the amount of toys from grandparents, step-grandparents, great-grandparents, pseudo-parents, godparents, aunts, uncles, and friends adds up, especially with three children. Please take that into account. The best gift anyone can give is money, whether it be in the form of cash, check, or gift card. All of that can fit snugly in J's pocket or my purse and with it, we can still buy the educational gifts we would like for the girls without any arguement.
If you would still like to buy something large for the children, it is your responsibility to mail it. Just like in Christmases past, if it does not fit in the car, it will be left behind. With as big as the girls are getting, there will be very little room in the care to begin with.
