An Evening At the Park
Took the middle two to the playground at the nearby elementary school. Iris met a little boy where they hit it off right away.
Logan: Do you know what 300 plus 300 equals?
Iris: 600!
Logan: Yeah!
*continue to discuss numbers and math*
Logan: Hey, do you want to be my friend?
Iris: SURE! *runs off to talk to Logan's mom* Hey, guess what? Your son and I are now friends because we are both math geniuses.
Both his mom and I laughed and rejoiced at this. She was so happy to meet a kid who loved numbers as much as hers, something she had not encountered before today. Logan's older brother then started discussing superheroes, and we all got into a conversation about Marvel characters and Star Wars.
I take my kids to the park and they start a math and book club. :)

Yesterday, Lily thought Wite-Out would be the perfect snack. She somehow sneaked it off of her father's lap and by the time he noticed and snatched it from her, she had already had some. I think she'll be one of those kids who eats paste... I wake up from my nap with Justin, "Where's your nail polish remover?" "I didn't bring any." "Oh. Well, in that case, Lily has Wite-Out on her face."
Quick stats:
Ht: 28.5 in.
Wt: 22 lbs 4 oz
She's such a chatty Cathy nowadays. And she does this gag-cough-hack when she wants attention. She's been mimicking Justin and I when we need to get rid of some mucus. She still has no teeth. She's been wreaking havoc. She doesn't know how to walk yet, but she is a climber - found her with her feet up in the air getting into her walker. And right now, as I type, she's trying to "get" Tinker Bell, who is tattooed on my back. She'll actually stop and clap if you clap first. She still shakes her head no. She knows who "mama" and "dada" are. And she calls her rubber duck "duh".
She was such a good girl at her appointment yesterday. She was scared shitless of the new peditrician though. She went into a state of hysteria where Justin and I couldn't help but laugh. She was about to wail and begin bawling, but no sound was coming out, her mouth was still wide open, and she kept looking back between the doctor and her daddy before she finally burst into tears. I couldn't quite understand it. She was friendly and smiling with all the nurses. I know she has stranger anxiety, but I've never seen it quite that bad before.
They had to test her iron levels and such. She yelped once when the pricked her finger but just sat there quietly as the drew her blood into the phile. The RN was telling the intern nurse that most babies would be screaming by now. She's very well behaved in public. I like that. She's a hellion at home, but good in public.
She's such a spoiled brat, but I just can't help but make her rotten.

22: 8 months
Seems like forever since I last posted, but in reality, I've just been lazy doing voice posts instead.
At eight months now, Lily has been shaking her head "no". She does it when someone else does, or just out of the blue. She's such a goofy baby.
Quick Stats:
WT: 21lbs 3oz
HT: 28 in

Likes:
Laughter/Laughing
Clapping (which she now does with you)
The sound of snapping
Talking (and loudly)
Shaking head
Eating
Little boys (cuz she's a flirt)
Going outside
Pushing buttons and climbing up and down things
And of course playing!
Dislikes:
Poeple arguing or hitting each other (she get's very upset)
Other babies crying (she gets very quiet)
Grown men (She cried when Justin came over. He got a haircut and looked different so she thought he was someone else.)
Ham (she gets this from her father)
Being taken away from things she wants to do.
She's teething, drooling everywhere, and waking up frequently during the night. I soothe her the best way I can. For the most part, since Justin works the graveyard shift and usually comes home around the time Lily and I wake up, I have her in bed with me on one of her more restless nights. Sometimes all three of us squish in there during the day. (It's a full-sized futon) She also has a very bad and painful diaper rash. I had to switch diapers because of this. Since our budget is tight, I started using White Cloud, bad idea. We went back to Luvs.
That's it for now. She's kept me on my toes chasing her around this apartment making sure she doesn't eat, pull, or push anything she's not supposed to.
Later days.

Before I begin, Lily wants to type something: mytvukkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkf gggggggggggggffffff bhvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Anyway, here are her 4mth stats
height: 25 inches
weight 15lbs. 9 oz.
She's a really healthy baby, and she had her 4 mos. set of vaccs on Wednesday. It didn't go as smoothly as her 2 mos. one, and she turned purple from crying so hard. I hate it when she has to get her shots. One of them bruised, and they all bled.
She's now eating solids. She loves fruit. I need to buy more as I don't have enough and the ones I do have were donated to me by people from the church. We blended up a fruit cocktail and she almost ate my sister's hand in the process. She'll grab your hand and shove the spoon in her mouth if you hover it in front of her for too long. She's so funny sometimes. I love my baby.
According to my mother I am a bad mother and she has threatened to call CPS and have them remove Lily from me. All this because she had diaper rash from me forgetting to change her diaper after a couple of hours, or from leaving her with the same bib on for too long, or because I try to have her on a feeding schedule, or because I didn't have her eating solids when they told me to have her eating solids, or because on lazy days (which is almost everyday) I have her lounging about in onesies or layettes and she looks like a bum, or becuase she doesn't constantly smell like baby lotion or powder, or because I left her bag in the car since I was only stopping by for a few minutes but just as we were leaving she decides to use the bathroom and spit up...the list can go on. I may not be a perfect mother, but I know I'm a good one. Lily is happy, healthy, I play with her, and I take her everywhere I go. I"m not one of those moms who just drop their kid off anywhere just so that way I can go have fun; I take my kid with me. That's all for my rant.
And here is a picture to amuse you. I walked in and found her in her crib like this.

o9: 2 months old
Lily has her two-month appointment today. I don't think they'll give her the vaccs since she has a cold. She is getting better. She'll still cry a little in her sleep, or have difficulty breathing from the congestion, but it's slowling receding. I'm glad that throughout this whole thing, the only one who had the fever was me. I give her medicine regularly, but I still feel awful that I got her sick.
She turned two months yesterday. We did a two-month dance around the room where I almost tripped from the swing, and my mother sang "happy second month to you." I still can't believe how fast she grows. I'm now putting her in 3/6 month clothes, and that was about a week before she was even two months. Her 0/3's are starting to be a bit snug, mostly because she's so long and pudgy round the middle.
She gave me a face yesterday when she was in her swing that her father makes. He usually makes it when I've said something ridiculous and he's waiting for me to catch it. Just stares at me with one eyebrow raised. She makes the same face.

I haven't slept...

It's a nice feeling when your child holds your hand...even if it is because they fidget so much. Lily's getting sick. I feel like a bad mommy; it's because I'm sick (this time with a very bad cold) and yesterday I thought it was just severe allergies and I cuddle with her a lot. She was a bit cranky. She's used to lots of lovin', and I couldn't give her that today. I could only pick her up to feed an burp her as I don't want her getting worse.
I love holding hands with my daughter. She looks so much like me now...with her daddy's forehead and ears.

o7: A message from Lily
Lily says:
"teehee"

We took pictures on Valentine's day, and on the last picture she took, she was cheesing just like the above. I get the portraits on March 8, so when I do, I'll definitely post them.

o6: She'll be 7 weeks tomorrow
Lily's gotten so big! She has three chins, she so fat. :) She also looks more and more like me each day.
Things she does:
A VERY decent half-push-up when she is face down and doesn't want to sleep
Cries on her back if she's sleepy (she only likes sleeping on her stomach, her doing, not mine)
Gurgles and coos. Sometimes they sound like actual words--such as "arroz" (rice), "agua" (water), and "jugo" (juice)---ironically, they're all in Spanish.
Cries when you take the bottle away from her when she's not ready, even though I have to to burp her.
"Talks" to you. Even when it's not the best time to talk---as in when she's got a bottle in her mouth.
Yells to get your attention...
She's too damn cute.

o4: Milestones
Yesterdays milestones:
Lily had her baptism (where she slept through the entire thing), which she looked uber cute in her little Christening gown. I changed her into a pretty pink onesie, and I think she was picked up too much because she threw up on herself and cried. I felt bad.

Today:
She's up to eating 5 oz. I admire all women who breastfed their children (especially those who actually managed it after a c-section). I do not have the energy or patience for it. More power to you. I also had her lay on my chest while I was flat on my back...she lifted her head completely up, and stared at me for a while.
I'm really starting to hate the baby talk my mom and sister use on Lily. It drives me nuts. Talk to my daughter like a human being, she's not a moron. I talk to her normally like I would to anyone, no matter what age. Man do I hate baby talk.
She's starting to be a chunky ass. :) And she likes it when you sing to her.

WTF?
Lily slept two 7-hour blocks last night. The kid is 11 days old, and is already sleeping through the night. One from 9pm to 4am, then from 5am to 11. She only woke up to eat.
I took her for her first stroll outside and around the neighborhood. Passed a few friends who were able to see her for the first time and they just about gushed.
My baby girl is starting to look more like me.

o2: Check Up
Lily had her one week check-up yesterday. She's a wondefully healthy baby. :) She lost a couple of ounces, but that's normal for someone her age. Everyone loves her since she's so damn cute. She has a two week appointment next week, with my check-up two days later.
My incision is fabulous. You can't even tell I had a c-section. The tape is starting to fall off, which is good since I itch. Can't scratch it yet, obviously, and I still have pain, especially when I blow my nose or sneeze, but I have motrin and viocodin that should last me a while.
All is well, and Lily can already drink 4 ounces. She can also lift her head on her own. She's only a week and a half and doing things so quickly. She was smiling all day today. :D She's being christened at my mother's church on Sunday.
Here's my munster smiling:
